Dear Parents,
What a great start to the year!
It's hard to believe that the leaves are already falling, and the time will be changing soon. We're well into our school year! This year we are bringing in some additional supports and assessments for students. We are adopting a model called RtI, or Response to Intervention. It is a model that uses testing results to determine which students are not making progress, and giving those students additional supports. We also do assessments frequently (as often as weekly) to see if the student is improving. These tests take only minutes, but allow us to see if we are on track with our supports. In order to determine which students need support, we are doing math and reading tests for the entire school. We are using a system called AIMSweb,
which will help us track data by school, by grade, by class and by student. We are really excited to be collecting additional information on our students. We will no longer have to wait months for the results of the NECAP to come back to assess our student progress!
Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 463-4366 and dial “0”.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McDaniel-Thomas
Principal
