                                   Maps are representations of a location, history, climate, and resources.  Maps vary in terms of purpose.

      Essential Questions for this Unit

                                  At the end of this unit, students should have a good understanding of answers to the following questions.

                                                       How are maps used?

                                                      What are different kinds of maps (thematic, physical and political) and what can we learn from them?

                                                     How do we read maps?

                                                     What are the charateristics of each type of map ?
